A Williamsburg Weekend

Williamsburg has been one of my favorite places to go to since I was a child - whether for a day trip, a long weekend or an extended stay. I absolutely reveled in Colonial Williamsburg's history, the old fashioned trinkets, horse drawn carriages, people dressed in olden-day attire and scenery (yes I was totally that kid that wore a hand-sewn colonial dress and bonnet when I visited). So many favorite memories there.

Now as an adult I am even more fond of Williamsburg! The wineries, cobblestone streets, outlet mall and more offer more than a day's worth of memories. My family stayed at a stunning resort for the week, so my husband Nich and I visited for a long weekend - visiting new places, playing board games and laughing a whole lot.

Here is a highlight of my weekend in Williamsburg!

Starbucks guava passionfruit French Pressed Fancies

We stopped at the Williamsburg Premium Outlets on our way up to the resort, hitting Starbucks to try the new guava passionfruit drink. It is SO good!

Vineyard Vines is one of my favorite places to get preppy staples, but only at a sale price. I've never paid in full there because it's a little too steep for me, however the outlets offer great basics at a much better price tag. All of their clearance items were $25 each regardless of style, so I picked up these three pieces that can last me a long time! A good white button down with that little whale logo, a golf polo and a beautiful gingham tie sleeve top. We also scored at the J. Crew Factory and got some great staple items on sale there as well, which I will feature in another blog or on my Instagram! The sunnies pictured are from there though for only $6!

The grounds of the Historic Powhatan Resort where we stayed are absolutely dreamy to walk through. The beautiful gardens, gazebos, lakes and sunset views just sweep me away! You can instantly recognize Williamsburg by its gardens and architecture, and this resort definitely capitalizes on that tradition. It's about 10 minutes away from Colonial and most other major sites in Williamsburg as well, so it's a perfect central location.

It's not vacation without Lilly Pulitzer! When dining out on the first night, this stunning little dress (similar one linked) was my number one pick! Its perfect lightweight material with both structure and cute details makes it a perfect summer occasion dress!

My family seems to pick the hottest days to do outdoor activities. But since it's basically a tradition now, we strolled through Colonial Williamsburg with our masks and cold smoothies to keep us hydrated. (Not pictured was the sweat dripping down my back because the heat index was over 100 degrees.)

That same sweltering day, my family also went to Jamestown to see the historic glass blowing house for the first time to watch it in action. This site was tucked away in the woods right on the James River, so it was very neat to watch, interesting to learn about and HOT!

On our third day, Nich and I took a ferry across the James River on our way home. We've never taken it before, so it was a wonderful and new way to wrap up our quaint weekend in Williamsburg!

Although it was short and sweet, our weekend in Williamsburg was just what we needed in the middle of summer - a quick, familiar and quaint getaway spent with loved ones!
