Why I Started This Blog

I have a feeling that most people think that starting I’m starting a blog to pursue sponsorships, free clothes, makeup, vacations and more. As nice as that would be, the real reason I decided to start a blog is because I want to rekindle the passion I have for writing, fashion, beauty and other lifestyle topics!

Why I started a blog French Pressed Fancies

I’ve always connected with them in every aspect of my personal life. Because I love fashion, I used to manage the fashion column for my college’s student newspaper... I worked at a little clothing boutique in college as well that was so much fun... I also worked at Sephora and was immersed into the world of beauty... I have a unique journey with fitness and the different ways it has affected my life and I’ve always loved decorating spaces and learning how to be a better cook - this one is still taking time though honestly!

Despite the influence and experience those topics have had in my life, I gradually grew out of touch with enjoying their creative sides once I graduated from college and started my career working 40 hours a week. I wasn’t investing my personal time in the things I’ve always been passionate about in the ways I had been used to, though I still enjoyed using Pinterest, Instagram and following bloggers I follow as a source of inspiration.

I not only desire to re-spark my love for these things, but learn more through the process of creating content!

I’ve grown to love the variety of digital spaces, the opportunities they provide, the endless creativity and the ability to make them your own. This blog is my opportunity to do just that - to learn and to enjoy creating my own content! I am truly excited to gain more knowledge and practice in content creation and (hopefully) seeing organic growth, in addition to discussing my favorite things. It’s a win-win for me!

If you hop over to my blog tab in the site menu, you’ll see the different topics I will dive into. But here’s an overview of why I chose them!

Fashion

Where do I even start in explaining why I love fashion?! Well firstly, the subjectivity and individualism of fashion has always inspired me to be versatile, which is also why I am not 100% committed to one fashion aesthetic. I range from preppy, to posh, to collect & casual, to chic street style - definitely a style chameleon!

However, the foundation of my go-to fashion choices are rooted in minimalism. I rarely over-accessorize and add layer upon layer. I prefer to let the beauty and simplicity of each piece speak for itself, complementing the rest of the outfit with pieces that comprise a complete look. Now that doesn’t mean that I don’t love bold statement pieces and outfits (which I do)! I just prefer a statement piece to be the focal point of an outfit, and select less-bold items to compliment it.

Beauty

I rarely go plain bagel in public (AKA no makeup & styled hair). I’ve always enjoyed the application, creativity and self-care that makeup, hair and skincare give me. I used to work at Sephora when I started college, and that was my springboard into the wonderful world of beauty. While I know much more about makeup and skincare than I do about hair, there are endless things to learn and try with beauty products!

I also love how personal and individual beauty is, because it is certainly not a one size fits all situation. Being able to learn about which products are tailored for you, how they’ll benefit you and how to work them into your beauty routine is so fun to me! Although it can be intimidating with SO many diverse brands and products out there, that’s what online forums are all about - another reason why I want to share my beauty tips, tricks and favorites!

Home & Cooking

This subject is a HUGE learning process for me. I recently got married and live in a place of my own now with my husband, so taking care of a home, working a full time job, cleaning, cooking and balancing life certainly presents a lot to learn! Since I’m so new to this, I love following bloggers that share home decor styling, easy and delicious recipes, effective habits for a healthy lifestyle and so on. Though I am certainly no expert or guru with things of the home, I would love to share what works for me in the hopes that I can both inspire others and create a dialogue of learning!

Lifestyle

This word seems synonymous with blogger now. What exactly does it mean to be a lifestyle blogger? Well, according to what I’ve seen with all the ones I follow, it’s a space where a plethora of content is created and shared with a digital following in diverse topics of cooking, fashion, parenting, crafting, fitness, the list goes on. The word lifestyle encompasses a wide variety of subjects to share with their audience, so it’s not just one focus.

Because I’m not specifically pursuing just one niche with my blog, I just decided to add a lifestyle category for the miscellaneous and potentially interesting content topics that I’d like to share! Most bloggers I follow are either lifestyle focused or are beginning to be lifestyle focused because of the opportunities in sponsorships, audience engagement and content opportunities, so I’ll give it a try too!

Fitness

If you want to follow someone who is honest about inconsistency, diet plans, workouts and more, you’re in the right place LOL! I love working out and living healthy, but I’m also notoriously inconsistent in these commitments on the whole. As I’ve said before, I truly hope this can be a forum of learning and sharing - both from me and you, my audience! I absolutely love to learn about healthy living and different kinds of fitness, so let’s share it up!

Starting this blog has been wonderfully fun, and I hope to learn lots about how to create inspiring and meaningful content as I progress in this new journey. Many friends and professionals have provided a helping hand in vision, photography, advice and more for this little blog, so I also want to extend a huge thank you to their talent. I couldn’t have gotten on my feet without these creative and inspiring people!

And thank YOU in advance for your patience and support! xoxo
